Jellied eels have actually long been an emblem of London's working class cuisine. They were once the jewel in the crown of a few of the city's oldest pie and mash stores.
The slurpy, gelatinous texture of the cold jelly is off-putting at first, however the eels themselves have a delicate, sweetish flavour.
Would you attempt it?

I wonder how that would taste grilled slowly over coals?
Amazing, actually.
Where I live they’re either grilled or cooked in risotto.
Miles better than boiling the s**t out of it
in my country (portugal), they’re either deep fried in a tempura-style batter or stewed in a rich sauce with tomato, bell pepper, onion, parsley, saffron, piri-piri, and other spices
in my country we just chuck the thing into the coals and then eat it
HEAVEN!!!
This pie and mash joint is a bucket list item simply for……..THE LICKA
I used to live opposite a Pie and Mash shop in Hoxton. I used to treat myself to mash and liquor once a week.
Just like old times
BUT ITS NOT OLD TIMES leave the eels in the past unless you’re eating unagi
you should leave your unagi in the past
Everyone likes different things
What? during ww2? You Brits all talk about immigrats taking over your nation but I swear to god it’s only because they put flavour into their foods and it ticked y’all off.
Please try Japanese bbq eel with a sweet and savory glaze. 😋
So good!
I always wonder how England cuisine always create recipies to make the food unpleasant. Watching Jellied Eel and comparing with Unadon is quite the amazing how they produce such different tasting dishes with similar main ingredients.
Have you ever actually tried jellied eels?
They have a delicate and subtle flavour, and the meat is very tender.
@dylanmills2165the Germans aren’t overhead anymore so no 😂
The British still eating like there’s Germans flying overhead lol
Americans be eating like they have free healthcare 💀
@ 😂😂😂
Haven’t heard that joke before
Worse.. there are Arabs praying on the streets.
I’m British and this looks revolting. No thanks
“The flavor of their food and the beauty of their women made British men the best sailors in the whole world”
😂 So true
Everyone who says this has never tried our food

😂😂😂 absolutely diabolical
It’s funny how some of the most beautiful men and women of all time are either British or of British descent
I wanna know how long theyre going to flog this clip they filmed over a decade ago
When ur in a bloke competition and this guys ur opponent😵
The eel is not what disgusts me, its the jelly
Unseasoned boiled fish served in jello? They know they have access to pepper, right?
You know fish can sometimes taste salty right? Much like your mums gaff no I’m joking I’m not british at all I just think Im funny xD
The eel has a delicate and subtle flavour that is ruined by throwing salt and pepper on it. We eat cod with salt and pepper, we eat halibut with salt and pepper, most fish really, just not eels.
@dylanmills2165Seasoning in not just salt pepper. Bland food is what Britain is known for
@dylanmills2165it’s absolutely insane how awful your food is. Salt and pepper… sometimes… you all haven’t even started living life
Eating war rations and calling it tradition is like going to get leaves off your tree for toilet paper evolve your taste buds you savages
Just beautiful love them stewed or jelly lovely jubbley
Cant beat them love them
Oh hell nah u love it? No salt? No pepper? No seasonings? Mate you eating prison foof
No beans with them 😂
Idk why people don’t just season them and eat them hot?
We do. You can get stewed eels. Jellied eels are more of a tourist thing ngl. No English person has eaten jellied eels since the 1800s
“stings like buggery” is some british azz lingo if i’ve ever heard any lol😂
“The fish died, got cooked and still suffered HAHAHAHAHA”- Arif young
