At Renee's Kitchen space, 3 generations cook Filipino specializeds to honor their household's tradition. The home-style restaurant is named after Renee, the matriarch who has been operating at her dining establishment for over thirty years. Taking motivation for their native Pampanga in the Philipines, Renee now gets aid from her sons, daughter, and granddaughter running the dining establishment. The dining establishment is understood for kare kare, and a range of grilled meats like longanisa, atchara along with chicken, pork tummy, and grilled pork.

Not including the youngest in the introductions is the most Filipino thing ever.
Everyone forgets the Bunso (wife is filipino and the youngest)
Frrrr..
that so tru😂
Not true. This statement is a generalization.
I’m the youngest and always included and remembered.
@gce1493 You might be adopted. Go ask your parents to confirm.
Salamat munchies🤙🏻
Renee’s is my favorite on the block. Been going since I was a kid in the 90s ❤️
Filipino food ain’t fancy but boy is it satisfying.
I wish family businesses like this last forever. Beautiful.
Authentic pinoy foods.
It’s the best! Their dishes are consistently amazing all these years. We keep coming back not only because of the Filipino ambience but for the quality of the food.
Aling Renee’s husband seem like such a loving and dedicated man. Him telling Renee will be famous (which she did), and the way the family affectionally talk about him 😭 him and wife picture holding together just breams with so much love that I can’t! Hope this love finds me too.
Would have been so nice if he was still around us to see how he’d cook these iconic dishes and i’d imagine he’d be prasing his wife alot if he was in this interview ugh. RIP Manong Ernesto. Im sure you’re proud of your kids and grandchild continuing such a vital part of the Filipino community in New York!
I can see it in their eyes how much they miss their dad and mommy missing her husband, I’m sobbing.🥺This is so loving and I love how much they love each other and keep the business running as a unit. I know that food is nothing short of fulfilling, yummy, and made with love. When Erica said their dad said he was gonna make their mom famous made me cry with some laughter because I know he meant that lol, that is the sweetest thing, i love her bashfulness with that moment. May they always be well and remain there for as long as Little Manila exists.
Their food is amazing.as I was waiting for my food a few families entered the restaurant sat and ordered they’d to be regulars, because the greeting from the waiter was warm I am no connoisseur of the food, but I’ve had my share of many dishes at different restaurants, but Renee’s blows them out of the water.I found my spot whenever I want Filipino food it’s Renee’s all day every day ❤
Fr this intro made me tear up 😭
ikr! that section at the end was so heartfelt ❤😊
In Jesus name.
Amen nad amen!
Kare- kare with garlic rice with a dab of that fishy bagoong is the best thing!!!!
Thank you, @munchies for amplifying the voices and stories of culturally diverse Americans! So heartwarming to hear their story and see their commitment to their cultural heritage.
GOT ME BY THE HEARTSTRINGS WITH HAPPY TEARS. RIP DAD.
This made me shed tears. It’s beautiful to see a harmonious and loving family. What a beautiful family!
Filipino food is a unique fusion of Asian, Polynesian and Hispanic cooking. The dishes are so varied and the flavors vary by region.
Polynesian?! 🤣… Filipinos have lost contact with Polynesians since the Austronesian migration 4,000 to 5,000 years ago. This Pacific Islander Issue is a Filipino-American issue, Filipinos in the Philippines identify ourselves as Southeast Asians. Austronesian roots originate in southern China, the Han Chinese referred to them as the Baiyue people.
@AngkatanNamwaranThanks for the heads up then. Many Pinoy dishes incorporate coconut milk, similar to Polynesian recipes. Influences especially cuisine does not have to be rooted in history and such. We have a chorizo “chori” burger in Boracay and I don’t think Jollibee invented fried chicken either but certainly their most popular on the menu along with the Pinoy sweet spaghetti. These are considered “Pinoy” versions of obviously western and European food.
@therodtriptv Coconut milk is extensively used in Indian and Southeast Asian cuisine, many dishes in Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia are also cooked in coconut milk.
BTW, I don’t know what Chorizo Burger, Fried Chicken and Sweet Spaghetti have to do with the conversation… these are modern fusion cuisine inventions, these are not traditional foods.
@therodtriptvIf anything, it’s more possible for the ancestors of the modern day polynesians to have gotten coconut-based recipes from pre-colonial philippines rather than the other way around …
Gracias Vice! Que familia ❤️saludos desde Bogotá-Colombia saludos a la familia Filipina
You know they’re Filipinos when u hear their voices sounds soo good. I’ll definitely visit this July trip in NYC
