  2. I was always told to remove the rubber bands from the claws before cooking so the rubber does not add an unpleasant taste to the lobster.

  5. Just a little tip. When putting the lobster into the boiling water, turn it upside down, and quickly plunge it in the water head first. This instantly kills the lobster, because all of its nerve endings, are in its head. This way, the lobster feels no pain. Also, turning him upside down, he’s disoriented, and keeps him from putting his claws out to keep from going into the pot.

    1. Just tried that – didn’t work, it’s tail flicked up boiling water just missing our daughter across the kitchen- normal feet first jam his tail against the side of the saucepan without any issues

    1. @Mackenzie Whethers its still plastic, not healthy at all. since it takes a big 5 sec to remove it, you should always do it

  6. You can just take the center flipper off and push the meat out with your thumb. Also you should also remove the lobsters digestive tract along the tail by pulling it off.

  7. using a par if Tin snips works great for cutting the shell and a rolling pin to squeeze out the meat of the smaller legs. They have quite a bit in them.

  12. I like the meat from the claws the best.  Thanks for the great advice on how to put a live lobster in the boiling water safely.    I hope Kroger brings back it’s live lobster tank.

  13. Do you need to put salt in the water while boiling ?
    Thanks for the tutorial ♥️

  14. A: It is humane to put the lobster in the freezer for 15-20 minutes to put them to sleep
B: Rubber bands are supposed to come off before you boil or steam a lobster
C: You need to make a cut across the entire the top center of the tail to remove a digestive tract
D: IMPORTANT: sometimes in the middle of the claw the cartilage doesn’t pull away as you are taking lobster apart. Be sure to check if its there by poking it with a small sharp knife or paying close attention when you are pulling out the other piece of claw if you also pulled out the middle cartilage
-Tip: When cracking a lobster claw, put a towel on it to not splatter the water or shell all over the place
