Johnnycakes sure are something else. Carribean cuisine just has so much to offer.
You’re my fave commenter on YouTube thought you should know that
First time here, try the Johnny cakes. I must warn you – they’re addictive.
I hear they have the same side effects as blood pressure medication

Loving the fact that she buys local
I love it! I don’t think I’ve ever heard someone speak Dutch with so much zest!
I don’t know Dutch but knowing German I thought I was hearing a person speaking German with something stuck in his throat. I mean the similarities are there.
Its cause shes from curacao
There is a bunch of pacific island that were under Dutch occupation back in the day and still speak and teach our language there. But because they have their own accent it sounds completely different. It’s like a tropical Dutch.
@Sonasic very original. npc.

There should be awards for people like this. She is quite exceptional.
Unfortunately World of Foods is gonna be destroyed by the government, it’s absolutely heartbreaking as a citizen of BIMS
They knew that upfront, it whas only for 5/7 years, and there for they almost had to pay no rent at all.

Serieus waarom ?
She clearly has a knack for business. After that hair salon mutiny, she really persevered. Kudos to her for making such an inspirational pivot.
Am actual hostile takeover
R 31st1
I am curious of what caused the mutiny though.
@thaddeustyc Yeah right hahaha. Something like that usually happens because of some major friction or disagreement between leadership and employees.
😢
Such a gracious and tenacious Curaçaoan woman ❤️ Her story has moved me to tears.
Just know once you buy a Johnnycake from this place, you’ll become addicted. Especially the spicy chicken Johnnycake and the one with cheese. Can’t get enough. It’s so nice to hear her story made me love the Johnnycake’s even more.
Ooh really!? Im going to try it. Thnx for ur tip!😊
it smaakt like poep
Did a Google and it said that the origin was created by Pawtucket natives. They cooked them and were called “Shawnee Cakes” but was mispronounced as Johnny Cakes.
Love seeing someone from my island doing amazing! Her story is sad but with a positive ending! I hope her ex-workers got their rightfully deserved karma! I am happy to see that she managed to bounce back after such an awful experience!

I moved from London to Amsterdam in 2019 and my first apartment was in the Bijlmer, near Kraaiennest. The spirit of the community in that area reminded me closely reminded me of that in London and the food was excellent; all cooked by locals with a passion for their gemeenschap and their culture. Veel liefde en veel succes voor het toekomst!
Zo’n persoon als Yvette, met al die passie en liefde waarmee ze spreekt, gun je de wereld.
You never know the accent exist until you hear it for the first time and it do exist and beautiful.
For all the Johnny Cake lovers: Yvette’s Kitchen has moved to Bijlmerplein (inside Shopperhal) Amsterdam. Let’s keep supporting this superwoman and her employees. She works so much and so hard and she gives back a lot to the community 😉
