  1. I completely agree forget the flame it just makes a huge mess. the flat top allows the steaks to cook in their own juices. flat top wins this guy is a wonderful chef

    1. Timothy Hoffer He might be a great chef but this is just being a cook. It’s a diner without a roof.

    2. A friend of mine bought one of these griddles last summer, he bought it because of all the hype around these things. He invited me over for the first cookout. He cook some steaks on it and some burgers. We both talked it over and said that they tasted good, but they also tasted like something that could have been cooked inside.

When we cook outside we kind of want that outdoor grilled flavor on our food. And the flat top just wasn’t giving that. I got an infrared grill that heats up to 600 – 700 degrees pretty fast. And there’s no flame ups with that, and everytime I grease drips down it gives off smoke. Just gives a nice flavor to the food. For any kind of meat my choice is a grill, sorry.

What they should do is a blind taste test. Go to a street fair or something like that. Take a charcoal grill, a gas grill, and one of these flat top grills, and cook some steaks on each one of them. Hand out some samples to people and don’t tell them which one was cooked on which. Then see which one the people thinks is better tasting. My money would be on the charcoal one first, gas grill second, and the flap top would come in third. That’s JMHO of course.

  2. This grill rocks! I’ve had mine for about 2 months now, and I love it. The combination of flat top griddle and grill is nothing short of amazing!

  3. great video, this food looks divine, i hope that i can be a cool dad like this

  4. Nice!! I need one of these to cook hibachi food. your food looks delicious by the way! Thanks for sharing!

  5. Nice job.Thank you for showing how a flat top performs. After watching this video,im more inclined to purchase one now.

  6. I read all your reviews and offer this: One my color corrected photography monitor the steaks looked pretty good to me, the pepper hid the fat from the last two. Don’t like cooking on a griddle? Why watch a video about cooking on a griddle? Putting oil down first instead of the potatos or vegtables just insures the food in on the top and middle will get NO oil. Doing it this way allows the oil/butter to drift thru the food eventually stirring. (fussy crowd). The “flashpoint” comment did escape me! The color of steak when finished looked slightly pink on my monitor, I can’t eat them raw or rare.j Very fussy viewers LOL

  7. I betcha’ you can get a good sear with this flattop griddle. And bonus, no flare up! Great video. πŸ™‚

  8. I cooked in a diner style restaurant for 30 years. We had three 36″ in flat tops in our kitchen.
Needless to say, I know a lot about cooking on them. Your meal looked really, really good!
Only thing for me is that I like my steak a little more on the rare side!

  9. Great looking meal! We will have to try this. Anything you would do different? Possibly put potatoes on earlier next time?

    1. @ 70+ That’s why my son’s watch me Barbie πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯ lol πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

  10. Goodness, that’s probably the best meal I’ve seen made on a flat top, and the way you make it sounds and look so easy helps so much. Was thinking about getting a flat top (not this one, too poor) but you sold me over a regular grill. Only thing I can think a regular grill does better is grill marks, wind managment, and sealing in heat (a lid for roasts). The shear convenience of these while doing average things like burgers, hot dogs, fries, eggs, bacon… ect is awesome and such a time saver.

  11. Woo, just put that grill together today! Making steaks tomorrow, and breakfast the following day. Excited!

  12. I must say I wish i had seen this dude cook before i bought a competitor. Either way flat tops are the way too go.

  13. Comparing it to an inside stove almost killed it for me… If I wanted to cook on a burner in the kitchen, I would be inside!

  14. I bought the grill yesterday and haven’t used it yet. Apparently, I made a great purchase. Great video Chef.

  15. You have a great looking backyard. I’ll be using my new flattop grill this summer.

  16. I have almost always used a small cast-iron flat steak griddle or just a skillet on a BBQ. I think steak is much better grilled than cooked over open flame.
