  1. You got scamed.. It’s A form of cornbread pie! Then Some Guy put Pizza on top.. Done.. Don’t let Them Get You guy’s.. That ol Story So we can get More Tourism. But No It’s really MIDWEST POT STOVE bread with Pizza on top

    1. Um, except there’s no corn in Detroit style pizza. I make Detroit style pizza. It’s a high hydration dough. I make with a poulish pre-ferment, but there are other ways. The point in referencing a location is simply to point a style difference.

  2. It’s a pie people. A deviously DELIOUS saviory pie. But it is NOT pizza.

  3. The gatekeeping around pizza is what I hate about pizza. Itโ€™s crust, sauce, cheese, and other toppings. New York, Napoli, Detroit, Chicago, American fast food pizza, etc. itโ€™s all pizza. I like some more than others but as far as Iโ€™m concerned the best pizza is the pizza you like, the way you like to eat it.

    1. The gatekeeping is genius marketing. If people said just eat what you like, pizza is pizza, fewer people would wonder about, and eventually travel to, Chicago, New York, Detroit, or Italy for the expressed purpose of trying the other styles.

    2. โ€‹@StanleySmith-t9x just confused why they made this comment. Is Buddy’s gatekeeping something?

    3. โ€‹@NicksDynastyNo, there are people in these comments gatekeeping pizza, when both Detroit and Chicago style are just variations on Sicilian style pizza

  4. True buddy’s is the original, BUT ! the guys at Jets took it to another level. It’s been 27 years since I’ve laid a foot in Detroit and can still remember the taste in my mouth.
