@rajkiran1982 there’s a breaking point where more people don’t equal to less work. plus, if you’re in a ship where everything is space constrained, there are a lot less thing that can be optimized. mess work in ship is a hell, not only in military, but also in cruise ships and merchant ships

I’ve never been on a boat, but I can say the same. That’s a dime on both sides.
My grandpa was head chef on his boat in Vietnam, he even played guitar in the ships band and helped maintenance the guns sometimes. He doesn’t talk about the war much but I can tell he worked hard in and out of duty, I have so much respect for him and all the other soldiers who protect us 🙂

Why were we in Vietnam? The only Americans who they can keep safe are the ones invading a foreign country. Sorry, but your grandpa participated in terrible things. Being a consciousness objector was actually brave. Standing up against your government asking you to travel across the world to kill people who look nothing like you, that’s bravery. Your grandpa was a coward who went along with the system because he didn’t have the balls or brains to say no. I see you inherited much of that too.

When I was in the Navy the three people you wanted to know was supply for the things that you weren’t supposed to have but seemed to always have The cooks to feed you extra stuff for the things that you got from supply 😉 and the doctors for fixing you after you were trying to get the things from supply to get extra stuff from the cooks!!!!!
My dad was an army cook as his mos. He was later a DS and he opened a restaurant for a short time when getting out. Cancer took him at the age of 29.

Just know he had a great job and fed a lot of hungry soldiers that really appreciated a hot meal. I was a cook 92Golf in the army in a field artillery unit and believe me they do appreciate the Cooks. I worked with a retired veteran that came in to help sometimes because his favorite part was “looking out the chow hall(DFAC) window and seeing all the smiles and hearing the silence for the first 2-3 minutes because people are so excited to eat they don’t talk they just eat and after that the volume goes up to 100 because of the food and drinks they get a little energy and sanity back and everyone starts chatting
