  1. Why does Gordon ALWAYS have to use at least one ingredient that NO ONE has in their house?

    1. @Nick Lee we never had star anise before in our house, then one day we just have it.

    1. @TheLuckySpades Not sure why masala chai is made it so many spices when most places in India use just ginger

    2. @Albert Teng I haven’t tried any of these. Interested in trying them .

  2. I’ve been in charge of cooking rice in the family for more than 20 years that I don’t even use the finger method anymore to measure water. I just put water until the spirit of my ancestors pat me and said “that’s about right, child.”

    1. Exactly. If you’re Asian, you don’t measure the rice and water any more. You just put the rice into the pot, turn the tap on and you’ll know when it’s enough, and off it goes into a rice cooker.

    2. Right? My mom flies her conscience to me from Alabama to tell me “that’s enough water my son” (she’s Filipino

    3. Exactly. A professional western chef can never compare themselves with Asians “who can just really cook”.

  3. Gordon Ramsay: Uses collander to wash the rice

Asians: Sorry we don’t do that here

    1. @Arjhay Frias ha ha you tell them if you want it plain you eat it plain

    2. @Sooha Park because it’s not our speciality that’s why I’m on here trying to get tips ha ha my white long grain rice keeps coming out soggy

    3. @LEOL LAST NAME oh I forgot to add your latest calamity /debacle Afghanistan

    1. @Yoonji-ssi personally I rinse it inside the pot, but if he uses the strainer to get it done, I don’t really mind.

    1. @Bruno Bruno have they mention you NEED to have a ricecooker in your kitchen yet? They’re really usefull and affordable. Throw everything at your kitchen for space of the RICECOOKER. Even the kitchen itself. The RICECOOKER is worth it. *RICECOOKER*

    2. This is the way rice should look. The Chinese make a starchy ball and they think that is rice. No way. Basmati is the only rice anyone should eat. We Indian/Pakistani people are the true rice peoples. Not Chinese.

  4. Before: I’m confident that Gordon Ramsay cooks rice the right way
After: Ok I take that back

  5. “Different culture cook rice differently, just some culture is wrong”
    – Uncle Roger

    1. @Estella Dee I do agree that there’s a right way to cook things. But there’s literally dozens types of rice. Each one requires or allows a different method. Saying that western people cook rice wrong is like saying that italians don’t know how to cook rice because they cook risotto. Risotto uses Carnaroli or Arborio and for that type of rice Italian way of cooking is pretty spot on. Otherwise, Brazilians eat rice EVERY day and brazil, much for america’s chock, is a western nation.

    2. Lol I can’t with some comments defending uncle roger. Like you know uncle roger is comedian right? Why some of you taken it seriously. But I personally agree that sometimes someone who don’t eat rice cooked it wrong way. But this video Gordon Ramsay don’t cooked it in the wrong way.

    3. Yup but some cultures do things wrong. At least Gordon learns about many cultures if you watched his other shows.

  6. “Do not lift that lid up,” he says, visibly pissing his pants keeping himself from lifting the lid.

    1. My mom pounded that into me.
      “Don’t lift that lid!
Don’t open that oven door or the cake will fall.”

  7. I tried this recipe and I swear to you, I now can say that I am not sure whether I prefer mashed potatoes or this – because this is not just good – it is truly phenomenal rice. It’s easy to make, foolproof, quick and a truly delicious side dish. Do yourself a favor, give this a try.

  8. Viv’ la mr Gordon Ramsay 😊
Never cooked rice this good until now 🙂
    Thanks 🙏

  9. Thank you Gordon. I will now show this to my grandma because her rice comes out in literal hard and yellow pieces. When I say “pieces” I mean bits of rice stuck together, not just rice individually.

  10. Gordon’s always cooking like he’s gonna miss his flight 😂

    1. @Ali BABA looks like he’s just been to the toilet with a little baggy of uh… flour, yeah, flour haha

  11. I just made rice for the first time and followed this and it was delicious😋 However it was just for me and I made 400g so I’ve got loads leftover lol

  12. Thank you for showing how to make the perfect rice. I made it today and it was delicious! It was my first time cooking basmati rice as well. It was fluffy and finally not over cooked like usual. I appreciate that you show how to cook even the most basic of foods. 🙂
