Sage Creamery on O'ahu in Hawaiʻi utilizes their locally sourced components to inform the story of the island they call home. They make all kinds of high-end ice cream; their flavors range from classic vanilla to banana lumpia and adobo ice cream. It's a labor of love, and likewise the romance of Zach and Courtney Villanueva, who were high school sweethearts before marrying and starting Sage Creamery in 2020. Their journey followed them from a garage to farmer's markets to a food truck and now a physical. The couple sources their active ingredients throughout the islands, and in this episode, Zach stops by some of their relied on suppliers; Laie Vanilla Business for fresh vanilla, Diamond Head Market & Grill for specialty falls apart, and to ChadLou's Coffee Roasters for coffee.

Lived in Hawaii for 3 years just moved back to San Diego last august. He had the best ice cream there were always at farmers markets. Also every company he uses make some the best locally grown and locally made food products in Hawaii. That’s what I missed the most the locally grown and locally made food in Hawaii is the best I was so healthy.

I love their ice cream. The ingredients are so island fresh. On Mondays after class I sometimes realize that they’re closed and then I feel bummed that I have to wait until Wednesday when they’re open. Try the banana lumpia, it’s so good. The bits of lumpia wrapper are light and crunchy. One of my favorites. I’m so happy we’re in the same zip code.
