I find these Ramsay visits fascinating. I admit since watching season 2 i have never eaten at a restaurant. Totally new for me as I became a total germaphobe
Oh, I can tell you some stories about places I worked at and unfortunately, I couldn’t like change menus or change the atmosphere or even change things that would make the place more safe for customers to even eat there everything from the rusty nail in Steuben Maine that was falling down around itself. That one was interesting. You had to like during rain storms run out in the dining room and emptied the bucket of water, so the customers weren’t getting drowned in a lake of water. They had one of the old winter weather plastic runners on the line that would get so greasy and if you work alone, you could just skate from one line to the other wall wall carpeting in the kitchen.
And then there was the place in Bucksport, Maine and this was after I took hospitality Management you know the whole shebang College courses OK it’s pretty much own a restaurant and run a restaurant which I have done and I go to work there and there’s let’s see 5 gallon buckets of chili that just got dumped from the pot into the bucket and tossed in the walk-in without cooling down a dish dishwasher sure that couldn’t even get up above 20° and then when I had to clean the deli slicer the first night, there’s this rubbery substance on the side, where the meat and cheese fall out, and it looked like a white rubber gasket only that I found out it was petrified cheese particles, and it looked like a giant white yellow is O-ring instead, and that employer wanted me to be the eyes and ears of looking at flaws and what needs to be corrected so he wouldn’t pale inspection from the state and county health inspectors
The bad part about some of the places in New England and especially Maine in Vermont New Hampshire is that their seasonal so people just come in and open up a place and you know I’ll try to run it and then they don’t make no money the first year which is normal anyway and then they bail and next year you see some of the other new establishment in the building anyway wait till I get to go watch the season of kitchen nightmares
