VYN.FYI
I put an oil/butter/margarine in the pasta water not to stop it from sticking….that makes no sense but the water where I used to live would boil over with bubbles so the oil stopped the bubble from forming.
pasta only sticks if it’s either overcooked or left out to long. i absolutely never oil the water. olive oil ain’t free either! 😁
@blue text on white background it’s not ABOUT keeping the pasta from sticking, it’s about keeping the pot from boiling over. And who in their right mind would use OLIVE OIL to keep a pot from boiling over? The desirable qualities of olive oil degrade with heat, that’s why extra virgin olive oil is COLD processed. You use either a cheap neutral flavor oil, or to add flavor, butter or pan drippings from the meat in the dish.
I don’t think you really know what you’re talking about, you just want to SOUND like you do. You remind me of a know-it-all I once knew who went on and on about the importance of not letting your hollandaise sauce burn.🙄
I want to see Bryan beat Michael.
Yes he can.
Thanks for the pasta oil tip!!!!
washing mushrooms in water does not affect flavor or texture. plus it’s way faster than dry cleaning with a brush.
No it doesn’t affect the flavor or texture, what it DOES do is soak into the mushroom flesh. Mushrooms are like sponges, and can soak up a surprising amount of water. Which can affect the consistency of the dish if you use them in anything but soup. It ALSO causes them to ROT faster if you don’t use them immediately.
I don’t use a brush on mushrooms either, I simply wipe them off with a paper towel or soft cloth. I clean the whole package as soon as I bring them home, then store the clean mushrooms in a Ziploc bag lined with several layers of paper towels. This keeps them freshest longest, much longer than the original packaging (unless they are packaged in paper cartons that is).
Literally to the 1% whos reading this, God bless you, and may your dreams come true, stay safe and have a wonderful day. 💕
Thank you, Chefs! I learned about not using oil in my pasta so the sauce will stick watching these very Chefs. Also learned to save some of the pasta cooking water for the end to make the sauce. 🙏 Rooting for Antonio Lofaso, Warrior Princess… it’s her turn!
Yesyesyes! So good to hear people dispelling those myths! Cooking isn’t a black art. My mother taught me that it is fun, especially when you experiment. We’ve had some really great successes – apricot and chocolate scones anyone?
Nice
It bugs me so much when even Food Network cooks say searing meats locks in juices. Thanks for debunking it!
Ohwowoh….someone needs to tell Gordon Ramsey
Good tips

Yes I agree here that a lot of those “Made Up” myths need to be burnt at the steak…!! No wait… Don’t burn the steak..😕
Gordon says Oil in pasta listen to the goat
