  1. If you added a can of tomatoes instead of jarred sauce then you literally would have made fresh tomato sauce so how exactly is this supposed to be any easier than making sauce from scratch?

    1. Most people have jarred sauce that lasts longer and for busy people it’s easier than fresh tomatoes plus it’s quick and easy for some people who maybe are not the most well rounded cooks while having to throw something together for multiple people like kids who can be extremely difficult when they see a vegetable, yes I know tomatoes are fruit. Some jarred sauce is actually good too there are times when I want a certain jarred sauce and I add what I want because it tastes a certain way that I’m craving.

    2. @VanillaGorilla7 pretty sure canned tomatoes last longer than jarred sauce. And I know people might not be the most experienced cooks but using a can of tomatoes changes literally nothing about the process in this video. Instead of opening a jar and dumping it in you just open a can and dump that in. Only thing I can see being difficult for beginners is seasoning with the right amount of salt

    3. Canned tomatoes doesn’t have the other flavors that jar sauces have

    4. @12345678abracadabra yeah like olive oil, onions, garlic and herbs which she‘s quite literally adding right before

  2. Step 1: start by making a homemade sauce
Step 2: ruin it by adding premade jarred sauce

    1. It’s literally so simple, if I’m committing to taking the time to peel and mince fresh garlic, then at that point you might as well just do it properly

  3. Eh, with that kind of work I may as well make my own sauce. Which is probably why I’ve never bought jarred sauce.

  4. My wife and I own a sauce company and we have onion, garlic, salt, pepper, san marzano tomatoes and we put fresh basil leaves i every jar. Not all store bought sauce is terrible.

  5. You need to find jarred sauce that does not contain sugar, then add alcohol. I use a shot or two of vodka since it has no flavor, but some like to use a 1/2 cup Chianti or Barolo. Tomatoes have phenols that are not released except in the presence of alcohol, so even that sauce will taste wooden by comparison.

  6. I do this same thing but diced home grown Roma tomatoes and to be more healthy and you don’t taste it chopped broccoli florets. It’s great

  7. Add a splash of balsamic vinegar, a diced bell pepper, a bit of ground beef (I use about ⅔ lb) and any other seasonings (I like Tony’s) and it can really boost it even more.

(Yeah, I know it isn’t cheap anymore, but if you have some of those things laying around…)
