MOONG MATAR KI KHICHDI

Components

3/4 cup whole green gram (sabut moong), soaked
3/4 cup shelled green peas
1 1/2 cups rice, soaked
3 tablespoons pure ghee
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
1 inch cinnamon
10-12 black peppercorns
10-12 cloves
1/4 tsp carom seeds (ajwain).
Salt to taste.
2 green chillies, sliced.
1 inch ginger.
5-6 garlic cloves.

Technique.

1. Heat a rice cooker on cook mode. Heat 3 tablespoons ghee in it. Include cumin seeds, cinnamon, black peppercorns, cloves, carom seeds and mix and saute till aromatic.
2. Add green grams, salt and green chillies. Cover and cook.
3. Approximately chop together ginger, garlic and green peas in a chopper and add to the cooker.
4. Drain and add rice and mix. Add 6 cups water, cover and cook till done.
5. Serve hot.
