Prepare yourself to experience the rustic charm of 'Taushe Bhakri', a traditional Kokan dish that turns simple components into a comforting and wholesome meal.
These bhakris are made with the natural goodness of cucumber, offering a subtle mix of tastes that lets you enjoy conventional taste while likewise acting as a natural cooling agent for the body. You can just serve them with a dollop of ghee or alongside your preferred curry for a genuinely gratifying meal.
TAUSHE BHAKRI.
Active ingredients.
1 big cucumber.
1/4 cup scraped fresh coconut.
1 inch ginger, sliced.
2 green chillies, sliced.
1 tsp cumin seeds.
Salt to taste.
1 tsp sugar.
1 1/4 cups semolina (suji).
Ghee for cooking.
Coconut chutney for serving.
Approach.
1. Peel and grate cucumber. Transfer in a bowl.
2. Add coconut, ginger, green chillies, cumin seeds, salt and sugar and mix well. Squash the mix gently.
3. Add semolina and mix well to form soft dough. Cover with a wet muslin cloth and set aside for 10-15 minutes.
4. Sprinkle some water on a tawa and use some water on palms. Take a part of mixture and spread evenly.
5. Location the tawa on heat, sprinkle some ghee around and cook on medium heat for 4-5 minutes. Flip and cook for 4-5 minutes more.
6. Serve hot with coconut chutney.

Taushyache bhakri. Konkani people’s recipe. It is made in a similar way with dates, jaggery, banana, salt, coconut millet flour. Banana is also added to rava bhakri. Onion, coriander, green chillies, cumin, ginger, coconut, a little salt sugar are also added to rava bhakri without cucumber. This can be done in the same way with ragi flour and rice flour.
