Mangalore buns, likewise called "mangalorean buns" or "mangaluru buns" or 'banana buns', are a standard sweet snack from the Mangalore area of the Indian state of Karnatakas. They are generally round and fluffy in shape, and are often served with a side of chutney or sambar. They can be taken pleasure in as a breakfast or night treat. They are also popular street food in Mangalore.

MANGALORE BUNS

Active ingredients

1 over ripe yellow banana
2 over ripe elaichi bananas
2 tablespoons castor sugar
1/4 cup yogurt
2 cups improved flour (maida) + for dusting
Salt to taste
A pinch of baking soda
1 tsp cumin seeds
Oil for deep frying
Coconut chutney to serve
Filter coffee to serve

Method

1. Peel the bananas, add them in a big bowl. Add castor sugar and mash the bananas with the assistance of a fork. Include yogurt and blend well.
2. Add refined flour, salt, baking soda, cumin seeds and mix well. Knead it into a soft dough. Cover with a cling wrap and reserved in a warm location for 7-8 hours.
3. Knead the dough again and divide it into equal parts. Forming each portion into a ball.
4. Dust the worktop with refined flour and roll out each part into a small disc.
5. Heat adequate oil in a kadai, dust the excess flour and deep fry the buns till golden brown and crisp. Drain pipes on an absorbent paper.
6. Serve hot with coconut chutney.
