Jamie Oliver x Fish Tales | Ep 2

Our worldwide fish stocks are being gone over in an all-new mini-series as Jamie Oliver and Bart van Olphen @Bartsfishtales look at how sustainable seafood choices can spark a genuine market transformation.

I'm talking with my pal Bart van Olphen @fishtales_official @seatales_official to unpack the immediate "WHY" behind the fish we select to purchase. In this video, we are breaking down why popular Atlantic Mackerel stocks are at risk from overfishing, checking out how switching to Chilean Jack Mackerel lets vulnerable fish stocks recover and exposing how wise tinned fish choices safeguard the future of our oceans.

To accompany our chat, I'm whipping up a fresh, crunchy Zingy Apple, Radish & Jack Mackerel Chopped Salad. It's dynamic, nutrient-dense, packed with Omega-3s, budget friendly, and most significantly, entirely sustainable. Let's care for our oceans, one plate at a time.

  5. I recently tried tinned jack mackerel and it was okay – the same as Atlantic mackerel. I was looking for sardines really but apparently there’s a shortage.

    1. Nice that you gave jack mackerel a go! You’re right about the sardine shortage, but luckily there are plenty of other delicious fish to discover 😉

    1. ChatGPT told me Jack mackerel is the same as Boston mackerel. If this is true, I want no part of it.

    2. Hi there! The Atlantic mackerel is the same as the Boston mackerel, and is sadly overfished. The jack mackerel is a completely different fish, but with a similair taste and texture and plenty of them in the ocean! ☺

  6. Delish!!! But why cut nog the stocks off the radish? It’s also delish and very healthy! ❤😊❤
