I used to go to Essex for seafood. It looks so good and I miss those clams.
The best fried clams I ever had was in DC’s Union Station.
Maine seafood and cuisine way overrated..red hot dogs baked beans greasy nauseating lobster rolls with mayonnaise..nasty fish and chips with stale smelly fish and soggy oily chips..you won’t find good pizza in Maine either..maybe a couple of pizzerias in Portland are ok..
SHOW ME A SIGN IN MAINE THAT STATES “FISH AND CHIPS” AINT NO PLACE IN MAINE GO TO ENGLAND
I’d go to Ipswich or Essex Ma. before driving to Maine for garbage. Stick to the better joints who specialize . Also don’t go in peak tourist season.

Oh I know, just from my own opinion of fried foods in my area.
We are from Pa. But have been going to Maine for almost 40 years. Our first stop for lunch is always at Bobs. Awesome clams!
Went to Bobs based on reviews. Got the seafood platter. Extremely expensive, and terrible. Don’t bother with this place. Clam Shack in Ipswich MA has this place beat by a light year.

Enjoy Bob’s while you can… Kittery is going down the toilet like all other “outlet mall” destinations… it was nearly empty when I was there a few weeks ago… on a Saturday… in peak leaf season!!
