  12. Do American chefs get a proper apprenticeship before they can call themselves a chef?? Some of them are pathetic!! During my apprenticeship in Germany it was also compulsory for a going to be chef to work on the floor to see and learn how it works outside the kitchen and both teams have to work together and communicate for costumer service.
