  3. Martha, you have to add salt to the water before adding the grits or they won’t have any flavor. It’s a Southern thing! And if you want to have grits, egg and country ham, then pour a little coffee over the ham in the bowl to release the salt from the ham and give you the best Red Eye gravy you’ve ever tasted.

  5. I think that lid traps the moisture under the lid and it splashes like that when you lift the lid because the water droplets are falling into the oil

  12. Instead of cutting the corn off with a knife, grate the corn and scrape the cob for corn milk. Much better cream corn.
