Sushi-Ko? Sushi-NO!
Season 3, Episode 12
Gordon is at Sushi Ko in California. Owner Akira was a successful sushi chef at another person's dining establishment so he and his other half Lisa chose to branch off by themselves. When they began, service was growing however it quickly slowed down. They're losing approximately $20,000 a month and Akira is a shadow of his previous self. Gordon is Sushi Ko's last hope.

Oh yeah that’s the guy who had the pizza sushi mmmmmm lol what a delicacy 🍕🍣
Fish does NOT belong on pizzas. Although, when I worked for California Pizza Kitchen they had a shrimp pesto pie that was fairly yummy.
bro is making 2 countries mad at him
I know places around here that have things they call sushi pizzas. Its a plague and gordon hasnt stopped it from spreading😔
@@pixels161 Two great cuisines blended into one is just too powerful, so it ends up bad.
ITS A JAPANESE HEALTH HAZARD!
I heard the restaurant has a new name now, under new owners, but they kept the restaurant interior design because they like Ramsey’s design.
It’s an Organic Juice shop now. I think there was another restaurant in between Sushi-Ko and the Juice shop, but can’t remember which. (Don’t listen to the articles that say it has become a California Pizza Kitchen, that’s in a different unit within the same shopping center.)
man the wife is so toxic
My thoughts too. Glad I’m not the only that sees it
I’m sure Akira would agree with you if he were ever allowed to speak up
the one part when she shows her true self is crazy, most of the time in kitchen nightmares the wife/husband help each other but this is next level of toxicity
She is from another culture! A toxic culture. He is a Japanese male, another toxic culture. It takes skill to be on an inter-racial team! We all should learn something.
Glad someone sees that
I actually teard up a bit when the family talked to each other 🥲
Me too
I can feel those 2 kids, because even i am 40, I have been helping my father ( can’t open about the business ). Trust me I am happy now thinking that I could give him a support! fight for it kids!
I’ll give you a toast to family businesses. This one’s for your dad and mine.
This was such a shame. He was clearly a skilled and capable chef. Just struggled to find his place as an owner. Can criticize men for our egos, but a man that cant, or doesnt have pride in what hes doing, feels lost in purpose or worse, a failure, and is a broken man. Thats just the way it is. These men need comforting support and vote of confidence. Not constant criticism. Trust me they are their own critic and worse enemy.
And his wife really broke him with her behaviour by making him lose face/ridiculing him instead of supporting him.
Sure, it’s not easy for her but losing face breaks a Japanese man. She should know his culture better being married to him for so long! I’m glad he found himself again and has a greatly equipped kitchen!
I hope they’re all well nowadays as well!
@@shantinaturechild3239 EXACTLY!! Even in 2024, smart Japanese women never disrespect their spouse.
I don’t trust you.
@@kusheranSmells like mysogyny. Nobody should be disrespecting their spouse, but men are not excempt from criticism purely because they are men. That would be babying them.
I have to agree, a spouse should be supportive, only critical when it’s actually necessary, but never forgets to tell their significant other what they do well and the areas where they succeed. You can’t constantly rip on someone and expect that to help, very few people actually improve with that kind of treatment. Especially from their spouse…
Is this place still open? The wife seemed to me to hammer the husband even further down.
The episode is from 2009 i think and the place got closed around August. Same year
Gets “Best of the best” equipment.
Sells the place.
Blessing squandered.
Gordon always seemed to give the wrong people the new equipment but that’s tv I guess
The equipment can be moved, or it can be an increase in the sales price. Squandering it would have been sitting in the location and letting the restaurant go under anyway.
They probably moved it when they found a better place, you’d be a fool to leave all that equipment behind
anybody else dangerously addicted to watching the full episodes
Oh it’s been like crack to me lately
Every damn night at dinner time.
hey atleast out attention span isnt fried
@@FunnyFavorsame!
Define “dangerously”. I ate four days ago so I’m fine….I’m fine I tell you…
Place was closed before this episode even aired.
Everything worked out initially. Akira just needed some anti-depressants. Like a Ronin, lost his purpose and brought shame.
Gordon being the best of all of us once again. Well done, sir.
Why is the wife smiling while she’s saying that her husband is a broken man?
Cause she is a witch haha 😂
Such a lovely family. I wish them success and happiness.
They closed not long after the episode aired
Pretty sure they closed before the episode aired.
So chef Ramsay had to tell her how to be a wife lmao I thought she was ok at first but soon as Akira actually started to change she was still shitting on him
Why is the music for the UK version always nice and calm but the music for the US version endless tension
It needs to match our news cycle
Wife basically can’t handle her husband having more success than her. It’s really plain and simple from what we see here, assuming this isn’t edited for this reason. But really, it’s clear that she is hyper competitive to the point she’ll sink the entire family
Salute to Gordon Ramsay sir for really helping like these families out 😢
