Til aur Kadi Patta Rice | तिल और कढ़ी पत्ता राइस | Curry Leaves Rice | Sanjeev Kapoor Khazana

Indulge in the wonderful flavors of our 'Til Aur Kadipatta Rice'! This basic yet delicious rice meal offers a best mix of nutrition and taste.

Components

3 cups cooked rice
2 tbsps roasted white sesame seeds (safed til).
2 tbsps roasted black sesame seeds (kale til).
1/2 cup curry leaves (kadi patta).
2 medium onions.
2 tbsps oil.
2 tsps ghee.
1/4 tsp asafoetida.
1/2 tsp mustard seeds.
1 tsp split Bengal gram (chana dal).
3 green chillies.
1/4 tsp turmeric powder.
Salt to taste.
2 tsps lemon juice.
1/2 tsp crushed black peppercorns.

Method.

1. Slice onions. Roughly chop most of the curry leaves.
2. Heat oil in a non stick pan, include 1 tsp ghee and let it melt. Add asafoetida, mustard seeds and split Bengal gram and saute till gram is lightly browned. Add onions and saute till onions are golden.
3. Include remaining whole curry leaves and the sliced curry eaves and continue to saute for 2 minutes.
4. Slice green chillies and add and blend. Add turmeric powder and rice and toss lightly.
5. Sprinkle 1/4 cup water and mix. Include salt, white and black sesame seeds and mix well.
6. Include lemon juice and crushed black peppercorns and mix.
7. Lastly add staying ghee and mix. Serve hot.

  3. Very nice and healthy recipe! Lot of people don’t like to eat or chew curry leaves. They often discard it from food. So instead of roughly chopping, the curry leaves can be lightly roasted, coarsely powdered and then added to the rice. This way the curry leaves will not be wasted and the person eating this rice will get full benefit/nutrition of the curry leaves. Curry leaves has lot of health benefits.
