Yakitori Prawns | याकितोरी प्रॉन्स | Japanese Recipe | Happy Valentines Day | Sanjeev Kapoor Khazana

A scrumptious Japanese side meal made of prawns that offers a sweetness and a depth simultaneously. You will like this easy and fast appetiser.

YAKITORI PRAWNS

Ingredients

12-15 medium prawns, peeled, cleaned up and deveined
Salt to taste
Crushed black peppercorns to taste
1/2 cup dark soy sauce
1/4 cup sake (rice red wine).
1/4 cup mirin.
4-5 spring onion greens strips.
3 tbsps great brown sugar.
2-3 spring onions, cut into 2 inch strips.
1-2 tablespoons oil.

Method.

1. Take prawns in a bowl. Add salt, crushed black peppercorns and mix well. Reserve for 5 minutes.
2. To make the yakitori sauce, heat a pan. Add dark soy sauce, sake, mirin, spring onion strips, 1/4 cup water and brown sugar and blend well. Cook till the sugar melts.
3. Continue to prepare till the mix thickens while stirring in between.
4. On the other hand, at the same time thread the spring onion bulbs, prawns on to satay sticks.
5. Strain the sauce and allow to cool a little.
6. Heat oil in a non-stick grill pan. Location the prawn satay sticks and grill on high heat for 2-3 minutes. Flip the satay stick and generously brush the sauce over it. Prepare the other side for 2-3 minutes also. Flip again and use the sauce on the other side too.
7. Set up on a serving plate, serve hot with yakitori sauce.
