Frying Pan Scalloped Potatoes
DISH THANKS TO REE DRUMMOND
Level: Easy
Overall: 45 minutes
Active: 35 minutes
Yield: 4 to 6 servings

Active ingredients

2 tablespoons salted butter
6 to 7 medium Yukon gold potatoes, sliced thin
1 medium onion, sliced thin
3 cloves garlic, sliced
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
1 cup whipping cream
3 ounces sliced ham
2 cups shredded mild Cheddar
Sour cream, for serving
Chopped green onions, for garnish

Instructions

Heat the butter in a big skillet over medium heat. When the butter has melted, add the potatoes, onion and garlic. Stir and prepare until the potatoes and onions start to soften, 6 to 7 minutes. Season with a great pinch of salt and pepper. Add the cream, then bring to a low simmer and cover. Cook up until the potatoes are cooked through, another 6 to 8 minutes.

On the other hand, set the oven to broil and move the rack to the center.

Remove the cover from the skillet and sprinkle the ham over the top followed by the cheese. Location the frying pan under the broiler and watch until the cheese is melted and brown, about 5 minutes.

Garnish with the sour cream and green onions.

I’ll put it this way, I have a jefferey deaver autographed “The Blue Nowhere.”

  3. I’ve got scalloped potatoes and ham in my oven right now cooking for dinner .

  4. Nice recipe but it does taste much better the next day when you have added the green onions and sour cream to the potatoes before sauteing and broiling. Love the idea of using a cast iron pan as your oven isn’t on as long and you have no worries about under cooked potatoes.

  5. I would’ve really liked to see what that looked like inside! I’m really picky about my scalloped potatoes and prefer super creamy over clumpy-like. Looks like this might fit the bill so I may just have to try it! Thx for sharing, love your channel!

  6. She could have really burned that cheese but whatever…. It ain’t cooked enough 😠😠

  7. Ree Drummond Happy Easter to you and Ladd and your family from a viewer in Toronto Ontario Canada

  8. I’ll gently admit I come from a family that will loudly declare that everyone else’s scalloped potatoes are awesome but nothing beats Gramma’s. Buuuuuuuut, I will delightedly try this recipe out as an “alternative” of course.

  9. This would be a complete meal for me. I probably would have a side salad. Thanks for sharing.
