Kachcha Chivda | कच्चा चिवड़ा | Sanjeev Kapoor Khazana

This quick-fix light treat from Chandrapur is a hot puffed rice and pushed rice preparation that is finished off with an onion-coriander garnish.

KACHCHA CHIVDA

Ingredients

2 cups puffed rice
2 cups thin pushed rice (patla poha).
3-4 tbsps oil.
1 1/2 tsps mustard seeds.
1 small onion, finely sliced.
1/4 cup daliya dal.
3 tablespoons chopped fresh coriander leaves.
1/2 cup fried peanuts.
2 tablespoons ready-made thecha.
1/2 tsp turmeric powder.
1/2 tsp red chilli powder.
1/4 tsp roasted cumin powder.
Salt to taste.
Mix of sliced onion and sliced fresh coriander leaves for garnish.

Technique.

1. Heat oil in a pan, include mustard seeds and let them splutter. Take the pan off the heat and allow to cool completely.
2. Take puffed rice in a parat. Add pushed rice, onion, daliya dal, coriander leaves, fried peanuts, ready-made thecha, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, roasted cumin powder and salt. Include the cooled oil-mustard seeds mix and mix till whatever is well combined.
